കേരള-കൊങ്കൺ ബേസിനിൽ offshore oil exploration ആരംഭിക്കാൻ സാറക്ഷണമായ മൂന്ന് പുതിയ ബ്ലോക്കുകൾ cleared ചെയ്തു എന്ന കാര്യത്തിൽ MoS for Petroleum & Natural Gas Suresh Gopi അറിയിച്ചു. 3D seismic survey 1,028 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്റർ വിസ്തൃതിയിലുള്ളതായി പൂർത്തിയായി. Exploratory drilling നടക്കാനിരിക്കുന്ന “Loc.OKKA” ചർച്ചയിലുണ്ട്.   • KK-OSHP-2018/1 – awarded to Oil India Ltd (OIL)
  • KK-OSHP-2022/1 & KK-DWHP-2022/1 – assigned to ONGC
• Drilling Plans: 48 km offshore, 6,000 മീറ്റർ ആഴത്തിൽ തുടങ്ങും.
• Support Infrastructure: കൊച്ചി പോർട്ട് നേരത്തേ MoU ഒപേക്ഷിച്ചു,shore base facility (warehouse, jetty, support for vessels) ഒരുക്കാൻ.
• Timeline: drilling ഒക്ടോബറിനുള്ളിൽ തുടങ്ങുമെന്നാണ് പ്രതീക്ഷ.
